Why Should I Tell An Organization About My Gift?

To protect your gift intention. By letting the organization know that you've left a gift, they can prepare to be good stewards of your gift, and can ensure that your gift can be used for the purpose you intend.
To get the benefits. Most organizations have "legacy societies" that you are eligible to join because you left a gift through your estate plan. Membership in their legacy society may come with meaningful benefits that are exclusive to supporters who have left this type of gift.

Organizations know that these types of gifts are revocable, so they understand that you might change your mind about this gift at a later date. Notifying the organization of your gift does not obligate you to keep the organization in your estate plan.
